Raid Preparation

Gear, repairs, consumables, addons, and knowing the fight — the quiet work that happens before invite time.

RaidingPreparationAddons

Ninety percent of raid performance happens before the first pull. Prepared players look skilled; unprepared players look unlucky.

The checklist

  • Gear: repaired, enchanted where your guild expects, and wearing your best available set for the spec you signed as.
  • Consumables: whatever the crew's raid norms are — flasks, food, potions. Check the event notes; do not assume.
  • Addons: a boss mod — DBM or BigWigs — is the universal baseline. Keep it updated.
  • Voice: installed, working, and tested before the raid starts, not during the first pull.

Know the fight

Guild raids link strategies for a reason. You do not need the encounter memorized — you need the two or three mechanics that will personally kill you. A five-minute read before invites is the difference between 'new but ready' and 'the reason for the early wipe'.

The logistics

  • Sign up on the calendar event so the raid leader can plan the roster.
  • Be online before invite time — 'on at raid time' means ready to pull, not just logging in.
  • If you cannot make it, say so early. A roster built on a ghost is a worse evening for twenty-nine people.
