The Academy
Our mentorship and growth program for all experience levels.
The Academy exists because we believe everyone deserves the chance to improve without ridicule. Whether you are new to raiding, new to your class, or returning after a long break — this is your safe harbor.
There are no benchmarks required to join and no deadlines to hit. All we ask is that you show up willing to learn and put in the effort. A veteran mentor will be with you the whole way.
The crew teaches the crew
Ask for a hand—or offer yours
The private Learning Board connects members who want to try something with members willing to stand beside them. No applications, ratings, or expert badges required.
Latest Academy Guides
Lessons published by the crew from the Command Deck.
No Academy notices have been published yet. The standing fundamentals remain below.
New Member Onboarding
What happens from the moment you join to the moment you graduate.
Join the Discord
Introduce yourself in #new-sailors. An officer will assign your rank and give you access to the relevant channels.
Get Assigned a Mentor
A veteran sailor who plays your class or role will reach out within 48 hours. They are your first point of contact for questions.
Attend an Academy Run
We host weekly Normal and Heroic runs specifically for Academy members — low pressure, full explanations before every pull.
Complete the Curriculum
Work through the resources in this page at your own pace. There are no deadlines, just progress.
Graduate When Ready
When you and your mentor agree you are ready, you apply for Raider or Member rank and join the core team.
Raid Prep Basics
Everything you should do before every raid night.
Consumables
Flask, primary-stat food buff, weapon oil or stone, health potions, and Augment Runes for progression nights. Stock up before raid day.
Gear Enchanted & Gemmed
Every slot should be enchanted. Check your spec's guide on Wowhead or Icy Veins for the current best enchants and gem choices.
Talent Build Verified
Use the raid-specific build from your class Discord, Wowhead, or Icy Veins. Avoid using an M+ build on progression nights.
Boss Research Done
Watch a kill video for every new boss before the first pull. FatbossTV and Limit Max are excellent sources for up-to-date strategies.
Addons Updated
Run your addon updater (CurseForge / Wago App) before raid day. Outdated BigWigs or WeakAuras can cause missed mechanics callouts.
Logs Reviewed
After every raid, spend 10 minutes on Warcraft Logs reviewing your damage uptime, cooldown casts, and the cause of any deaths.
Mythic+ Fundamentals
The habits that separate a good key from a depleted one.
Know the Weekly Affixes
Check Affixes.gg or the in-game calendar every Tuesday reset. Understand how each affix changes your rotation, positioning, or defensive usage before you enter a key.
Learn the Route Before You Pull
Import a pull route in Method Dungeon Tools and review it before the run starts. Knowing which packs are skipped and which are combined prevents surprises and wasted time.
Assign Interrupts
Before the first pull, agree on who kicks what. Uncoordinated interrupts — or none at all — are the single most common cause of avoidable deaths in Mythic+.
Use Defensives Proactively
Defensive cooldowns are meant to be spent. Pop them before the spike hits, not during it. Dying and releasing costs the group 30+ seconds; a wasted personal costs nothing.
Communicate Early
Call out incoming DR stacks, dangerous affix spawns, and low health before the situation is already critical. One sentence early saves a wipe.
Study Your Deaths
After a key, open the run on Raider.IO or Warcraft Logs and look at what killed you. Was it avoidable? Could a defensive have saved it? Honest review is how you improve fast.
UI & Addon Recommendations
The tools every raider and key-pusher should have installed.

Your Mentor is Your Best Resource
No guide replaces a conversation with a crewmate willing to listen, explain, and try it beside you. If you are unsure about a build, a mechanic, a keybind, or where to begin, pin a note to the Learning Board. Someone aboard may be waiting for exactly that voyage.
