Building a Healing UI

Raid frames, debuffs, and click-casting concepts — what your screen needs to show you to heal well.

Healers play the UI more than the world. Your screen's job is to answer three questions instantly: who is hurt, who has a debuff I can remove, and is my next heal going to land in time.

Raid frames are the game board

  • Move your party/raid frames near the center-bottom of your screen — close enough that your eyes travel between frames and the fight without crossing the whole monitor.
  • Make health deficits visible: frames should show missing health clearly, not just total health.
  • Show debuffs on frames, especially the ones you can dispel — a removable debuff you cannot see is one you will not remove.

Mouseover and click casting

You do not need to target someone to heal them. Mouseover casting — hovering a frame and pressing the heal — removes a whole step and is the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade available to a new healer. The stock UI supports mouseover macros; addons like Clique or built-in frame options make it easier still.

Keep it boring

  • Big, calm frames beat beautiful ones. If you cannot read them under pressure, they are decoration.
  • Track only what changes your decisions — your dispellable debuffs, your HoTs, meaningful damage. Everything else is noise.
  • Copy a proven setup before building one. Wago hosts frame profiles for every healing spec; import, then trim.
