DPS

More than making the meters glow — uptime, interrupts, defensives, movement, and priority damage.

For damage dealers who want to be the player groups are glad they invited.

Follow the stages in any order — nothing here is required or locked.

What you'll learn

  • Understand the job: damage plus mechanics plus survival
  • Learn rotation fundamentals without a spreadsheet
  • Keep uptime while moving and staying alive
  • Use utility — interrupts, stops, defensives — like a veteran

Suggested Path

Stages, not requirements — jump to whatever you need.

Your Actual Job

Damage is the baseline, not the whole job.

  • Damage plus mechanics plus survival

A dead DPS does zero damage — mechanics and defensives are part of the role.

  • Priority targets

Kill what threatens the group first — meters forgive it, healers remember it.

Rotation Fundamentals

Priorities, not scripts — applies to every spec.

Movement and Survival

Deal damage while staying alive.

  • Uptime while moving

Instant casts and movement abilities keep damage flowing during mechanics.

  • Personal defensives

Your defensive belongs to the group's survival, not your pride — press it before you need it.

  • Positioning

Where you stand decides whether mechanics are trivial or lethal.

Practice · Complete a dungeon deliberately interrupting every dangerous cast you can reach.

Utility

The buttons that make groups invite you back.

Dungeon DPS

Trash pulls, boss mechanics, and the timer.

Raid DPS

Mechanics first, meters second.

  • Mechanic execution

Raid DPS is a dance — do the mechanics, then fill the gaps with damage.

  • Target switching and burst windows

Save burst for adds that must die and windows where the boss takes extra.

  • Cooldown planning

Plan defensives and burst around the fight timeline, not the pull timer.

Go Further

Take the fundamentals somewhere harder.
