Professions are one of the easiest ways to be quietly valuable to the crew. A crafter who answers requests is worth a guild bank of good intentions — the trick is keeping it generous without making it a job.

How to be useful

  • Say what you make. Post your craft and specialty where the crew can see it — guild chat, the Learning Board, your officer team's channel.
  • Answer the Learning Board. 'Need X crafted' requests are the system's front door; watching it is the highest-value habit a crafter can have.
  • Batch work when you can — five orders in one session beats five interruptions.

The materials conversation

Most guild friction around crafting is unspoken material expectations. The clean norm: requesters provide the recipe's materials; crafters provide the skill. If your craft needs something rare or expensive, say what it costs before accepting — nobody is offended by honesty, everyone is offended by surprises.

Keep it sustainable

  • You are allowed to say no, or 'this week is slammed'. Sustainable generosity beats burnout generosity.
  • Tipping culture sorts itself — give what feels fair, accept what arrives, and never invoice a crewmate.
  • New crafters deserve patience too; today's apprentice is next season's specialist.
